Pastors urge all Christians to vote for Congress

Pastors and Christian religious heads from the city and district expressed the view that only the Congress can safeguard and uphold the secular fabric of the Constitution that guarantees all citizens the freedom to pursue the religion of their choice. Thousands of pastors and Christian religious leaders participated in a meeting organised by Visakhapatnam Pastors Fellowship at the Municipal Stadium here on Friday.

Later giving details to newsmen, State Pastors Fellowship president Rev K. Pratap Sinha said

  • Special Minority Corporation was established
  • Subsidy of Rs.20,000 was being extended to Christians to visit Jerusalem
  • Rs.15,000 worth material was being sanctioned to poor Christian couples

All these benefits were being extended to Christians in AP as nowhere else in the country, he said and gave full credit to Chief Minister Y.S. Rajasekhara Reddy for these programmes.

Bishop K.R. Singh said that the Rajasekhara Reddy Government had introduced several welfare schemes for the poor .

Visakha Pastors Fellowship president M.A. Paul called for unity among the community members. The pastors would pray for the success of Rajasekhara Reddy from March 23 to April 23.

YSR is also a devout Christian and his son-in-law is a well known pastor in Andhra Pradesh and his vision is to construct Churches to spread the religion

YSR's son-in-law caught red handed

Anil Kumar, son-in-law of Chief Minister Y. S. Rajasekhara Reddy, and three more pastors were found in possession of Rs. 10.40 lakh in cash at a lodge in Karimnagar.

BJP corporator Bandi Sanjay alleged that the cash was brought by Mr. Anil Kumar for distribution to voters.

Mr. Anil Kumar had arrived in the town earlier in a helicopter (hmm CM's son in Law) and gone to a hotel room where other pastors were staying since the last two days. On the BJP’s complaint, police raided the hotel and seized the cash.

Later, more BJP leaders arrived and raised slogans against the pastors and the Chief Minister. The pastors also came out of their rooms and argued with them. The police then arrived there in large numbers, dispersed the mob and took the BJP leaders into custody.

YSR a devout Christian became Chief Minister of Andhra Pradesh in 2004 and is the longest serving Congress chief minister.
